Kwik Cricket Festival
Approximately 300 key stage 2 pupils showed off their striking and fielding skills in Primary school kwik cricket festivals hosted at local clubs. Ten schools from the Shelfield School Sports partnership competed against each other in an ‘open’ event at Bronze Cricket club, whilst five schools form the partnership attended a girls only festival at Walsall Cricket Club. Both festivals were played in favourable weather conditions and were sponsored by ASDA supermarket who had staff in attendance giving out refreshments throughout both days. At Bronze CC, Greenfields school were the victors after narrowly beating St Johns Primary school in the final. Greenfields will now go forward to compete against the winners of the Willenhall and Streetly partnerships at the Borough finals at Pelsall Cricket Club. In the girls event Palfrey junior schools came out on top after pipping Butts primary. |

| Students in
Years 11 and 12 were invited by their schools to attend this event, held
at Bescot Stadium, where they would learn more about SIS and meet their
school based mentor's. Parents and sports coaches were also invited so
they could gain an understanding of the programme and the commitment
required by the students.
The event was well attended and I'm sure all those present considered it a most useful use of their time. If students / parents / coaches have any questions about the SIS programme they should contact their school based mentor in the first instance who should be able to answer their questions. If your mentor cannot answer your questions they will be able to put you in touch with someone who can. Click on the Sports Club Standard logo to get a list of all the accredited clubs in Walsall. |
